The Rotary Club of Diliman Central, proudly continues its commitment to education and community service through its Book Donations, Reading of Books, and Gupit Program at its adopted school, Kalantiyaw Elementary School.
For the last 18 years, this meaningful initiative has brought books, learning opportunities, smiles, and care to generations of young learners. The Book Donation Program provides valuable reading materials that help enrich the school’s resources and encourage children to discover the joy and importance of reading. Each book is an invitation to enrich their vocabulary, comprehension and challenge their imagination and logical thinking, and explore beyond their dreams. The Reading of Books further strengthens this advocacy by creating an engaging environment where learners can listen to stories, participate actively, and develop a deeper appreciation for reading. Beyond improving literacy, storytelling opens young minds to new ideas, values, experiences, and possibilities.
Complementing these educational activities is the Gupit Program, which provides for a free haircut to students. This simple yet meaningful act promotes proper grooming, cleanliness, confidence, and self-esteem among the children. Every haircut comes with a smile and a reminder that they are valued and cared for by their community.
The 18-year continuation of this program is a testament to the Rotary Club of Diliman Central’s dedication to Service Above Self and its enduring partnership with Kalantiyaw Elementary School.
As the Club embraces “Create Lasting Impact,” it remains committed to nurturing young minds and building brighter futures— one book, one story, one haircut, and one child at a time.
